I'M LIVING FOR ME...

TV Shows: Project Runway - I wish I knew how to sew because I have a hard time finding clothes now.. Housewives of Orange County, even though the women encounter problems they are able to live comfortable

Hobbies: I love walking, dancing

Bio: Well, where do I begin... last year I finally made the decision that it was time to take care of me... All my years I've been focusing on taking care of everyone else (husband, 3 children, 3 grandbabys) and when I finally looked in the mirror I had already ballooned up to 250 lbs.. I tried everything from exercise to dieting and even therapists and was not able to take the weight off... after researching the idea of gastric bypass surgery I decided to go to Dr. Garth Davis who is an excellent physician in his field and after attending his seminar at Methodist Hospital was comfortable in making the decision to making a life committing change.. After the surgery 5/17/2006, it was time to get serious because there was no going back, I followed the Doctor's dieting instructions because of the many horror stories I had heard where people became deathly sick... At first it was hard because my eyes were telling me something different than what my stomach was able to do... I fought my inner demons and have made it through the inner battle... I have now maintained a weight of 120 lbs and feel like a teenager all over again, I am so happy and proud with myself. I will admit that there have been issues with other people who don't appreciate my success and yes I have lost a couple of friendships that I thought I had because of me being a completely different person on the outside... It was hard to accept at first, but I now realize that they were never true friends, because I've only changed on the outside and I am still the same person on the inside... About six months ago, after my weight stabilized, I decided to proceed with the possibilities of having the excess skin removed around my stomach area... I went to three different plastic surgeons who informed me that my insurance would not cover the procedure... I almost gave up... I did become depressed... I woke up and said to myself that no was not the answer.... I then found Dr. C. Bob Basu, Assistant Professor, Division of Plastic Surgery at Center for Aesthetic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine (Houston, Texas)... who gave me hope... Dr. Basu told me it didn't hurt to try and submit a claim to the insurance and keep our fingers crossed that they would say yes... Guess What? The insurance gave the YES and Dr. Basu performed the lower body lift... The only thing the insurance did not cover was the lateral thigh lift and breast lift where I will have to save up for.... but I was happy to have the excess skin removed around my stomach area... I am blessed to have found Dr. Basu because he performed a beautiful surgery on my stomach area....
